Caring for Your Cluster Crystals – Mini Blog

Caring for your crystals is such an important topic when it comes to crystal collecting.

I’ve seen an influx of advice shared on the internet with regards to caring for clusters, so I thought I’d type up a mini blog to share my do’s and don’ts when it comes to looking after these gorgeous pieces.

Cleaning your clusters regularly should be part of your crystal care routine, as dust and dirt can not only damage these forms of crystals, but they can also have an impact on the crystal energy, too!

When it comes to cleaning your clusters, the most important thing to remember about clusters is they’re very delicate.
It doesn’t take too much effort to break one of the edge clusters off, or damage the top of the points, so it’s always important to remember to handle these pieces with a little more care than you would with a tumbled stone or a chunky piece.

I’ve seen on the internet recently that a lot of people are recommending to hold your clusters under running water to rid them of any dust or grime, but due to the point above regarding how delicate these pieces can be, I’d really recommend avoiding that way of cleansing, as the force from the running water can break some of your cluster and points.

So how can you clean them safely?

By simply using a really soft make up brush, or shaving brush!
To remove any dirt or dust, you can just ever-so gently give your clusters a sweep with your brush.
The bristles of your brush will be able to get deep into the crystal, helping to remove anything that’s in between each point,. plus it gives the surface a good dusting, leaving your crystal full of life and colour again!
You can also use this process for dusting off druzes, carvings and other delicate crystals, especially Spirit Quartz.

So next time you see your clusters looking a bit dull, why not incorporate dusting them and showing them some attention as part of your crystal care routine?

I’ll be posting more mini-blogs around crystal care over the next few weeks, so if you’re wanting to learn more about this topic, why not sign up to our newsletter so that we can let you know what new blog posts are shared?

Until next time,
Love, light and laughter,
The Little Crystal Lounge
